Belizean History is a general core course that covers the development of Belize and its vibrant historical culture.  It surveys the prehistoric inhabitants of Mesoamerica; provides an overview of the Maya Civilization and the early Spanish conquistadors and their activities in Belize.  It also examines the role of politics, economics, culture, society and the environment. It also explores the issues surrounding the Sovereignty of Belize and the Belizean perspective of Guatemala’s claim over Belize.
